PPT Progress

My power point project is going very well. We chose the topic laptops in class. I felt that this was a strong topic to choose in the sense that technology is changing the way we learn in class. There are already classes that implement the computer in class. We started the ground work for it and we put together a outline. I like my partners, they work hard and we can communicate well. I think that working in groups are always good because you get to share ideas and meet new people. The only negative thing about a group is when people dont do there job. I dont have any partners like that so its very cool.

week 7

I think that technology is very inportant in this day and age. Everything we do in this world invovles a huge contribution of technology. Its faster and easier to access information and uptain communication. With that being said , it fits in the classroom perfectly. Teachers should find every way to import technology into the classroom because that will better equip the student in the real world. It will aslo accomadate the students who are more reluctant to speak out in class and ask quesstions. Students these days are used to using emails chats, etc. so it will be second nature to them.

I think that online chats and instant messenger can be helpful or harmful, depending on the how the teacher monitors it. Most students may feel more comfortable with interacting with students online to ask questions or ask the teacher that way. Instant messenger is instant and fast so for the most part it will keep a classroom quiet and not loud from everyone talking at once. I could see where it could be a distraction but for the most part more helpful fun experiences will come about.

The only way i can see the benefits to asynchronous, text-based communication over synchronous, face-to-face communication is the visual aspect. If the student has this ability to see it and communicate back by text. questions are easily answered and put into a visual point of view. Just another way to have technology help the classroom.

Podcast is a wonderful application to have becuase everything is at the tip of your finger tips. You can find anything, read whatever you have to and be anywhere. I think it is very helpful. i havnt used it personaly but have seen it work in its full form. In a way it can be very passive because students find loop holes but for the most part i find it inhancing the students ability to research and find out information.

Well the type of video games i play dont necessarily enhance studying. Maybe in sports but not in the classroom. I think the type of games you play can improve your mind. There are different types of games out there that will contribute to learning and growing. Those are the games i will allow my children to play. Other games could be played but not all the time. Im big on fitness and being out so i wouldnt want my kids to be playing video games all day. The article brought up very good points and i agree with it.
